Update to SECWSC Members

We wanted to provide an update on SECWSC for our members who were unable to attend the Annual Meeting covering last year.

We are no longer using outside contractors to handle our field operations. Everything is handled in-house. Should the situation be too large for our crew to handle, we present it to outside entities to bid and contract the jobs.

As you may know, we have had a turnover in personnel. Greg Adcock is the new General Manager and is extremely knowledgeable and courteous. He is progressing daily in getting SECWSC where it needs to be. It was not broken overnight though and cannot be fixed overnight, so bear with us all. You can imagine with over 600 connections and hundreds of miles of lines in 3 counties (most of which are over 50 years old), 3 older wells, and dealing with government entities daily, it is not an easy job.

Desireé and Kinsley are the new office personnel. They handle the day-to-day office business; billing, phone calls, etc. They are very efficient and effective in their duties and are an asset to our company. If you call in with problems, they may have to ask you many questions. This is so they can get the overall picture of the problem and create a work order as accurately as possible. When they present it to the field personnel, they give them additional information to help get it repaired as quickly as possible.

Work orders are assigned a priority--someone who has NO water is going to require immediate attention over a leak. The number of members affected by each incident also is taken into consideration i.e. 3 or 4 households versus just one. This is just to name a few of the priority questions we must address.

With the new well coming in, near the first of the year, we will be in better shape to make repairs that we have not been able to perform unless we shut everyone’s water off. That is to just name ONE of our many obstacles, as we “hurry up and wait” for all the government, utilities, etc. to complete their part so we can get the well up and running. Not to mention that, as with everything else, prices are skyrocketing on parts, equipment, etc. We are trying to approach everything economically BUT not sacrificing quality, longevity, or economics.

We have also implemented a new after-hours call service. We have this in place so we can service you 24/7. If you have any problems after regular business hours, call 469-570-5818. The person who answers the phone is the same one who answers during regular business hours and will always be a SECWSC employee! Mind you, they are at home with their families too. So, if they don't answer; leave a voicemail with your name, phone number, and a brief message and they will get back to you as soon as they can!

Your Board of Directors would like to make a request from the members. When you are contacting SECWSC personnel via telephone or in person please show them respect and courtesy in your language. We know that you may be upset due to problems with the system; however, our employees do not deserve abuse. It is not their fault; nothing can be fixed immediately; there is a protocol they must go through; and they do not deserve abusive language or actions.

With that said, we would love it if you can make an effort to attend our board meetings on the third Thursday of each month, 7 pm at the SECWSC office on Main St. in Italy.
