Statement Regarding the BWN on the 308 Well/Standpipe
September 05, 2024
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has rules and regulations set forth for Water Supply Corporations. A boil water notice was placed on July 8th, 2024 due to low distribution pressure not meeting the minimum distribution pressure set by TCEQ. Out of due diligence and precaution, the boil water notice was placed to ensure the safety of our customers. We are a small non-profit utility system that has been neglected for many years. The current staff are working around the clock finding and fixing leaks to keep this utility running. With such a small population over a huge geographical area, it has been difficult to locate the leaks affecting the distribution pressure in this particular area. Our staff has fixed multiple leaks in the affected area, which has helped a little each time but not enough to meet the minimum distribution pressure required by TCEQ. Our staff has been utilizing what little resources we are provided and doing everything we can to get the pressure back up to par, including working seven days a week to get the issue resolved. Until we can get the distribution pressure up to the minimum that TCEQ requires, we will continue to be overly cautious of our customers by keeping them on a boil water notice.
